Invitation to 10 Downing Street

On 29 April 1958, the Rt. Rev. F.F. Johnston (Frank) was invited to lunch with the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street on the occasion of the visit of the Libyan Prime Minister. The British Prime Minister at that time was Harold Macmillan. Frank had been expelled from Egypt in 1956 at the time of the Suez Crisis. Based in England, he remained  Bishop of Egypt and Libya, but finally resigned from the office of Bishop later in 1958, when it became clear that he would never be allowed to return.
